Photostrip: Mundane Art of the Last Week

After looking through some of the photos I have taken over the last year, I’ve realized that Instagram has given me an outlet for something I used to indulge with a film camera – photos for photos sake & indulgent shots of mundane things in an attempt to make them special. I’ve fully embraced this – I use the blur effects way too much, and lately I’ve begun turning things upside down for no good reason. Here are some of my favorites from last week, delivered to you this week.

If you’d like to some of these as they are taken, feel free to follow me on Instagram.

Corned Beef, Cabbage, & Letterpress – Photos from the First Day of the Year

Here are today’s photos – the lead comes from Indianapolis’s Claddagh, an irish pub that my family enjoyed a late lunch at today.

My second photo from today comes from the iOS game, Letterpress. Letterpress is yet another word based game that I am terrible at, but I do find it amusing that I keep finding words like “Nazgul, Bobafett, and Morpheus” instead of playable words.

I was really wanting to play this in Letterpress as well.

At the Drive In – photos from 1999

This Station is Now Operational

On January 12th, 2012,  At the Drive In broke radio silence. After 11 years, the ATDI station is once again operational. Reading about the 2012 Coachella line up sent me into a bit of a nostalgia spiral, longing for times past that seem like 11 months ago, but were actually 11 years ago.

Part of my memory tour was spent in my hard drive, culling photos of fresh-faced bands playing small shows at Knights of Columbus halls and tiny bars.

So, I present, as either a badge of my scene cred, or a telling tale of my age, five photos of a band at their peak.

After seeing The Mars Volta’s surprise show at SXSW 2011, I’m sure At the Drive In will bring it back like it never left.
