My 2013 in Photos, Part One of a Few

It has become a bit of a custom every New Years eve that I succumb to some sort of ridiculous notion that I need to recap the year, followed by a mediocre resolution to blog more. It usually stems from WordPress’s annual report that I get, serving as an annual reminder of how little traffic I get over here. This year was a little different. First, we had people over for New Years, and secondly, 2013 was a cacophony of awesome that I’ve had a hard time condensing. So, for the next few posts, I will indulge my desire to showcase my year in photos, starting with this massive Instagram recap of the general awesomeness that I experienced in recreation.  I’ll be sharing a some rock show photos and general geekery as well, so stay tuned.

Congratulations On Your Impending Geography

Ten years ago, right after working at Kinko’s, and right before I met my wife, I was fortunate enough to travel to Europe with Mara’akate. I made a movie about it. This is it.

We were a band, so we did all sorts of silly things. On the DVD release of the above film, we included the videos below just because we could.

Before any of the above could happen though, we had to record one last record, and this was made:

Awesome (sub)Urban BBQ north of Chicago

Last Monday I took a quick trip to the northern suburbs of Chicago to meet with one of Raidious’s clients. While visiting, I was fortunate to have time for dinner with my good friend Matt from Matt Mansueto Photography. There were three of us, all hungry for something meaty.

On Matt’s recommendation, we checked out Real Urban Barbecue… which, is Vernon Hills… a very non-urban suburb of Chicago.

I mean really, it’s in a strip mall.

That being said, it was delicious, and I highly recommend it if you are in the area. I enjoyed the Home ‘Recker, which is Texas Sausage with pulled pork, some potato salad, and corn bread. There are lots of sauce options, and many vintage soda options, as well as home made sweet tea.
