Henchmen Graphic Novel on Kickstarter – Ending This Week!

Hello internet friends! I know I don’t update much these days, and when I do it seems to be because of a Kickstarter project. This post is different…actually no it’s not. Jamison and I kickstarting Henchmen again! We’ve actually been live for the month and we are wrapping up this week, so please help us smash through a stretch goal or two before the week is up. We have some great tiers including a custom copy of the book with custom cover art by artist Ryan Howe!

There is more! Mark Waid wrote the foreword. Talk about cool – Jamison and I have both been fans since we were young pups first reading comics! Making this book has been a lot of fun and we’ve been fortunate to meet some great folks over the past year – some of those folks are also signed up to provide some cool print artwork if we unlock some additional stretch goals, including Transmetropolitan (one of my all time favorite comic books) artist Darick Robertson!

Scoundrel Society – A New Game from Action Phase Games

Hi friends – a quick note/post to let you know & remind you that Action Phase Games has a new game in the works called Scoundrel Society. If you remember, last year I helped found APG and we had a great launch with our inaugural project, Heroes Wanted.

At the time of this post, the project is just $300 shy of funding, so if you like board games and you want to help me and the team out, be sure to back today!

Thanks again!

That Time My Dad And I Rode In A Car With The Guy That Won The Indy 500

Hot lap with Juan Pablo Montoya.

There is nothing like a long weekend to dust off the old blog. Sunday was the 99th running of the Indy 500. I spent the day building a tree house with my brother and father. While relaxing after a day of pulling siding up with ropes, my father informed me that Juan Pablo Montoya had won the race. Way back on July 26th, 2012 my father and I were afforded the opportunity to sit in the back seat of a car that Mr. Montoya was driving… with one hand on the wheel… at top speed… while casually discussing the standard features of the car (AC and satellite radio)… around the very same track. It was awesome, and here are the pictures and a video to prove it.

Yard of bricks.

Comic Book Conventions – Photos From The Year So Far & A Write Up On The Indypendent Show!

I’ve been to a couple of comic book conventions, and plan to be at a couple more. I especially want to share a quick review of the show I was at this past weekend:

The Indypendent Show

The Indypendent show was honestly a bit of a surprise for me. Due to crazy schedules and having a spread out creative team on Henchmen, I quite frankly wasn’t sure if going to a show focussed on local talent and independent publishers would be very fruitful or honestly very fun.

I was very happy that I was completely wrong. I met some flat-out amazingly talented people at the show, both attending and exhibiting, and got to share the comic creative and business process with my son, who was able to sell some of his original artwork and in turn buy artwork from some of the most patient, passionate, and caring folks I’d met in a long time. He learned a lot, and I learned a lot.

The format and size of the show was perfect for a one day event  – nice and relaxed and time to actually talk to people! As a bonus, my son was able to get this awesome one page comic from Trae Dorn, Jackie Crofts, Lee Cherolis, G. Pike, and yours truly!

As you might imagine, super heroes are a thing at my house:

Here is a quick recap of the year so far in photos!

Kickstarting Again – Heroes Wanted

Hey everyone!

Things have been busy lately! I’ve been in the studio with Conjurer, making awesome at Raidious, and just last week helped launch a new Kickstarter campaign with Action Phase Games for Heroes Wanted (incredibly, it funded in under 48 hours!). After re-connecting with my friend Travis Chance, I’ve been spending many evenings the past few months helping to bring the game he and the rest of the Action Phase guys have been testing and working on for the past year. It’s a fun game, and has been super fun to work on. Check out the video below, critique my editing and voiceover skills if you must, but most importantly back the game if you are a fan of fun table top games as well as super heroes.

Also of note is the incredible art by Henchmen’s Ryan Howe – there are a couple of cool cross-overs we are doing with Henchmen and the game, so be on the lookout for more!
